It is Tuesday, and normally I would not be working on the banjo during the week. But I want to finish off this banjo over the holiday weekend, which is coming up next weekend. It would be great to put the strings on it and hear what it sounds like, but I won't get that done unless the pegs are ready to go before then. To get there I still have to fit the pegs into the head, finish the buttons, make the bridge and make the nut. So, to get started I am taking some time during the weekday evenings to put some finish on the peg buttons.
Here are the pegs, still stuck in their stand and ready to get oiled.
Plain, Unfinished Pegs
Once again I did not get any photos of the process, but here are the pegs with the buttons oiled. A few more coats of oil and these will be ready to fit into the head.
